Park Slope Christmas tree vendor donates to local schools

From News 12 Brooklyn:

BROOKLYN - A Christmas tree vendor in Park Slope is donating part of its profits to Brooklyn public schools.

Foley Firs is working with parent-teacher associations to raise money for 16 schools.

Owner Tom Foley has been doing this for the past four years. He donates $10 for every tree sold to someone who mentions the name of one of the schools. Foley says he was inspired by his own children.

Foley says he bases the amount of money he donates to each school on the size of its student body. He hopes to surpass last year's donation of $11,000.
